Lowline cattle are the wonderful result of a selective breeding program at the Trangie Research Station in New South Wales, Australia. Since being made available to the cattle industry in 1992, the breed line has done exceedingly well.
Everywhere we go, there has been extreme interest and excitement about our cattle. The mere size and demeanor stupifies even the most seasoned rancher. Lowline cattle look like little cows yet their maintenance and return for the effort far excels in cost efficiency. Lowline cattle were introduced to North America in 1996, when six cows were placed in an embryo transfer program in Calgary, Alberta.
Currently, breeding programs are ongoing in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, China, and the United States.
For beef to maintain its position as the premium supplier of protein, it must provide a consistently good product. This product must satisfy the changing demands of the consumer for leaner, smaller portions. The cattle industry, worldwide, has been looking for answers to satisfying this ever growing and specific demand of their product. Clever agriculturalists have come to see that the answer to this consumer demand, is smaller, efficient, quality carcasses...providing dietary smart portion cuts of tasty prime beef. The answer, some are finding, is Lowline cattle.....
